Question: My 1999 ford explorer makes a loud humming noise when the weather's cold, why?

    where is the noise coming from??

    T he noise is under the hood, but I can't point exactly where under the hood. It only makes the humming sound in very cold weather. It never happens in warm weather.

    it could the clutch fan on the water pupm. not a common failure but could be verified by removing the serp belt and see if the noise goes away.
