A fluid leak may develop from one or more power steering hose. When a leak is being repaired, it is not uncommon for multiple hoses to be replaced.

I went to turn out of a parking lot when a loud noise, followed by smoke from the enging occured. I stopped the car and the smoke smelled awful. Turns out the power steering hose had busted and the fluid was all over the engine, thus all the smoke. Repair costs were about 400.00
