Question: motor turns over just won't start

Rookie
driving down the hwy and the car just turn off the check engin light came on and off towed it home now it just turns over but wont start gas pump workes dont know where to start

JourneymanPull the fault codes. Does the engine sound normal while cranking. If the fuel pump works do you still have spark?
