motor mounts on 2002 Ford Escape

i was recently told that i needed to replace motor mounts. do i have to replace all of them? how do i check to see which ones are faulty?

probably best to have a tech tell you which mount needs replacement so you don't change parts that are still good, because both the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder have three mounts each

I have the 3.0 v6 and it has three motor mounts. I believe it was the rear motor mount that I had replaced. I noticed the problem right away as the transmission was resting on a cross member and you could not start the car without hearing the noise. I only replaced the one mount, about three years ago, and have not had any motor mount problems since. Knock on wood!
