motor issue on 2002 Toyota Sienna

i was driving my van when all of a sudden it died while i was sriving it all my lights,radio,heater all that still works but the car will not turn over i tried jumping it no luck it makes no sound at all ive checked all fluid levels and they r fine it made a slight pinging sound the day before this happened but it lasted a minute and stopped i did smell what smelled like rubber burning but i drove it another 20 miles that day and a good 45-50 miles the day it broke down it gave no warning just died while i was driving.any suggestions on what my problem could be,i despretley need help!!

Ok if you smelled rubber more than likely one of the belt driven items ( power steering,alternator,air conditioning ) probably has failed and caused the belt to burn in half and break, So I would say its the alternator belt and you were driving on just battery power until it became so low it caused the engine to die, So have a shop check the alternator belt and the alternator itself and you can find a shop near you here www.repairpal.com/directory and can check alternator replacement cost here www.repairpal.com/estimator

Sometimes the battery will become so discharged that it won't jump, And the only reason I think its the alternator is because you said you smelled rubber burning, Have the battery load tested and alternator checked and both of those items can be tested at your local Napa store and you can locate one here www.napaonline.com
