Hello, my car currently has tires that are P185/65/R14. I was wondering just how important it is when replacing them to get the same size. For instance would it be ok to put 175/65/R14 tires on? Thank you for your time, and knowledge.

I do know that my car is supposed to have P185/65/R14 tires, however, my question is: can I put 175/65/R14 tires on with out comprising the safety and performance of the car. I have good tires that size, and it would help my budget quite a bit to be able to use them. Again, thank you for your time.

    The tires you want to install are shorter and narrower than the stock tires http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/brochure/info/tm... You will have to take them to a tire shop and see if they will install them as some tire shops have a standard size they will install and won't install anything but the specified size for liability reasons, I suggest you call a few tire shops and see what they think.
