Mitsubishi recalls

For Models: Mitsubishi Outlander

Electrical & Lights, March 29, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport vehicles are being recalled because the brake lamps may illuminate continuously, or not at all. The shift lever could also be moved out of Park (P) without depressing the brake pedal. If the brake lights do not come on when braking this could increase the risk of a rear end collision. If the shift lever is moved out of park when the brake pedal is not depressed, the vehicle could roll unexpectedly. Dealers will make sure the brake light switch is properly installed to correct this concern.

For Models: Mitsubishi Outlander

Body, Interior & Misc., March 29, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Mitsubishi is recalling the 2013 Outlander Sport AWD because they may have been assembled without a fuel sending unit wire harness for the secondary sending unit. This can result in a false fuel tank level reading. If the fuel gauge were to indicate fuel available while driving when the tank is empty, the engine would stall increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will install the proper fuel sending unit wire harness to correct this concern.

For Models: Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Brakes, January 25, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

All modern braking systems use some type power assist. These vehicles use a vacuum pump to provide power assist to the braking system and some of these vacuum pumps can fail prematurely, causing reduced braking performance. This can result in increased stopping distances and therefore increasing the risk of a crash. Mitsubishi dealers will replace the effected vacuum pumps to correct this concern.

For Models: Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Body, Interior & Misc., July 31, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

261 vehicles are being recalled due to incompatibility between air bag sensors and the self-diagnostic software. This condition may deactivate the frontal and side airbag system. Should this occur, the SRS warning lamp would illuminate to alert the driver.

The side and curtain air bags may not deploy in a crash for which those air bags were intended to deploy, increasing the risk of personal injury to the vehicle occupants.

Dealers will replace the incompatible air bag sensors to correct this concern. The Mitsubishi recall number is SR-12-003.

For Models: Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

Electrical & Lights, January 3, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The turn signal lever on certain vehicles was manufactured incorrectly, which could lead to failure of the auto-cancel function of the turn signal. If the turn signal were to continue to flash when it should have canceled, other drivers may receive inaccurate indications of the driver's intended maneuvers, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the turn signal lever to correct this concern.

For Models: Mitsubishi Endeavor

Body, Interior & Misc., July 5, 2010

Summary: MITSUBISHI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004 ENDEAVOR VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, KENTUCKY, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, VIRGINIA, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, AND WASHINGTON D.C. COLD STATES INCLUDE NORTH DAKOTA, SOUTH DAKOTA, NEBRASKA, KANSAS, OKLAHOMA, COLORADO, WYOMING, MONTANA, IDAHO, WASHINGTON, OREGON, AND UTAH. ADJOINING STATES INCLUDE ARKANSAS, TENNESSEE, AND NORTH CAROLINA. IN SEVERE CORROSIVE ENVIRONMENTS WHERE ROAD SALTS ARE FREQUENTLY USED IN WINTER VEHICLES MAY BE EXPOSED TO ROAD DEBRIS (MUD) MIXED WITH ROAD SALT. THIS MATERIAL CAN BECOME TRAPPED BETWEEN A REINFORCING BRACKET AND THE FUEL FILLER PIPE, POTENTIALLY CAUSING CORROSION. OVER TIME, CORROSION COULD CREATE A LEAK IN THE FUEL FILLER PIPE THAT COULD RESULT IN A FUEL LEAKAGE WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE.

For Models: Mitsubishi Galant

Engine, March 23, 2010

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The pipes that connect the transmission to the transmission cooler may corrode and leak. Transmission fluid leaking poses a fire hazard. Dealers will inspect the cooler pipe and replace it if anti-corrosion properties are found to be insufficient. This recall began during March, 2010.

For Models: Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Body, Interior & Misc., November 27, 2009

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Where heavy salt is used on the roads, the mixture of melted snow and salt may stick to the front impact sensors. Over time, this causes corrosion of the sensor, and could cause a possible delay in the deployment of the air bags in the event of a collision. The delay in deployment could cause an injury. Dealers will install new front air bag sensors with improved corrosion resistance. The recall began on November 27, 2009.

For Models: Mitsubishi Endeavor

Body, Interior & Misc., September 30, 2009

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The retainer bracket used for the side air bag frames may not have been properly welded. This could cause the air bags not to deploy properly in a side collision. Dealers will inspect the weld condition of the side air bag retainer bracket on the front seats and replace the affected seat back assemblies. This recall began on September 30, 2009. The Mitsubishi recall number is SR-09-003.

For Models: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Engine, September 29, 2009

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Mitsubishi is recalling 2008–2009 Lancer Evolution, Ralliart, and Sportback Ralliart models equipped with turbocharged engines due to a poor connection where the fuel return pipe is attached to the engine, which may cause a stress crack to develop. If this occurs, fuel may leak, which, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. To correct the problem, the fuel return pipe will be replaced and additional attachment brackets installed free of charge.
