The fuel return line fitting on the fuel pump may have been improperly molded. Breakage could result in a fuel leak. Any fuel leak increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel pump to correct this concern. This recall began on July 26, 2004. The Mitsubishi recall number is SR-04-007.

Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FUEL RETURN LINE HOSE FITTING ON THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP MAY BE IMPROPERLY MOLDED.
Consequence: BREAKAGE COULD RESULT IN A LEAKAGE OF FUEL AND IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, IT COULD RESULT A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 26, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MITSUBISHI AT 1-800-222-0037.
