There have been reports of airbags not deploying in the event of a frontal impact. Some claim that a shorted airbag wire harness can cause this to occur. A fluid leak may be noted from the one or more of the suspension struts. A small amount of fluid residue is generally not considered a problem. If the fluid leak becomes severe enough strut performance may be affected requiring replacement.
Rust damage to the body is not uncommon in states where salt is used on icy roads. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done about this issue other than to avoid the salt.
The manual transmission may become difficult to shift due to problems with the synchronizers. This most commonly affects second gear. Replacement of the affected synchronizers may be required to correct this concern.
