Question: Misfire/stall during warm up

Rookie
just after starting my car when its cold, it will misfire and briefly stall several times until the engine is warm - at which point it will run smoothly 99.9% of the time. The check engine light comes on periodically. Is this something obvious? or should I take it into a shop to be diagnosed?
