Make sure your dimmer switch is not turned all the way down. When you say the light when out, do you mean the back light at night, or just the green numbers are gone?

Sounds like an instrument cluster failure. Internal issue. Are there dashes present, or just blank?

OK, indeed, it is a bulb issue then. The finish panel comes of of the instrument cluster, then you have mountings hex screws, and the assembly pulls out. Bulbs are twisted into the cluster onto the printed circuit. Be very careful, as all components are fragile and can be damaged.

There is a bulb for it. Need to have the instrument cluster pulled and have the bulb replaced.

I had this very same issue on my 07 F150 XLT. Luckily, my warranty covered it (30000 miles). It is not as easy as changing out the bulb, because there isn't one---the entire LCD cluster must be replaced as the backlight is internal to the cluster. 2-300 dollars will cover it as well as you will need to bring in both keys to be reprogrammed by the dealer as it also works in conjunction with your anti-theft system.
