man, i checked the 7 day forecast and immediately pulled my 97 993 out of storage last week! it's play time. or so i thought... she had a really rough idle and so i begrudgingly went back to the dealer and waited for the palpitations.
they told me my valve guides were bad and the air injection was clogged up... supposedly this means redoing the whole top end of the engine and quoted me around 9 grand. that's about the time i put my head between my knees and started breathing into a paper bag. i mean, i expect to pay porsche prices to maintain a porsche, but i didnt think she was in bad shape when i stored her! i needed a second opinion, so i checked some reviews for some independent shops around chicago. enter midwest performance. i left a message for lee, and he got back to me pretty quickly. we talked about it a bit and i decided to set up an appointment.
i dropped off my car in the morning.. and when i told them i worked in the loop they offered to give me a ride to work! around 2pm they called me and told me the biggest problem was that i needed an air boot. apparently some critters chewed through it in storage and i had some air leaks. 4 hours and $530 later (FIVE HUNDRED AND THIRTY DOLLARS!) my baby purred like the day i bought her.
these guys were really super nice, they definitely knew what they were talking about and they seem to have the integrity that most service shops lack. i had an awesome experience, so when they politely told me about repairpal i was moooore than happy to write a review for them. thanks midwest performance!!
