the truck will start then when u give it gas it dies it will start again but doesnt sound right then u give it gas it will die again. What could be wrong if it was fuel pump it wouldnt start at all would it?

    Sure; it would start if the fuel pump was weak -- it could put out pressure that is just not enough. Could be an air intake problem - like the intake getting too much air or having a vacuum leak. A good engine performance diagnosis will determine the failure. Good luck.
