Mercury Milan Recalls
The passenger frontal air bag assembly is deployed by an inflator which contains propellant that makes the air bag deploy. This propellant may degrade over time, especially when exposed to humidity and temperature cycling. As a result, the inflator may rupture on deployment, which can send metal shrapnel through the air bag, striking vehicle occupants. This could result in serious injury or death.
The fuel tank could crack and leak fuel due to a malfunction in the system that controls fuel emissions. This can cause a fire hazard.
The electric power steering assist may shut down, causing difficulty steering and controlling the vehicle.
Accessory floor mats purchased from Ford dealers for use may move and interfere with proper accelerator pedal operation, possibly resulting in a sticking pedal. This may result in unintended vehicle acceleration.
On vehicles equipped with 17-inch steel wheels, one or more of the wheel studs may break. A vibration could develop and the wheel could separate from the vehicle.
Nineteen vehicles have been recalled because the transmission may not properly engage in "Park." This could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash.
