Ford will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning in the second quarter of 2012. There are no symptoms related to this recall. If you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It's helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) when you call.
On certain vehicles, the torque convertor output shaft may fail, resulting in complete loss of power to the drive wheels. This vehicle stalling condition increases the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the torque convertor to correct this concern. The Ford recall number is 11S25.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 205,896
Summary: FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004 AND 2005 FORD FREESTAR AND MERCURY MONTEREY VEHICLES. THE TORQUE CONVERTER OUTPUT SHAFT MAY FAIL.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION RESULTS IN A SUDDEN LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WITH NO WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN THE SECOND CALENDAR QUARTER OF 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AT 1-866-436-7332.
