Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC Recalls
The Electronic Stability Control system may not operate, which could allow the vehicle to lose control in adverse driving conditions. This could result in an accident. Additionally, the electronic parking brake may not function.
The electric power steering assist may shut down due to a software error. This would increase steering effort and increase risk of a crash.
The passenger frontal air bag assembly is deployed by an inflator which contains propellant that makes the air bag deploy. This propellant may degrade over time, especially when exposed to humidity and temperature cycling. As a result, the inflator may rupture on deployment, which can send metal shrapnel through the air bag, striking vehicle occupants. This could result in serious injury or death.
The panoramic glass sunroof assembly may separate from the vehicle, increasing risk of injury or an accident.
The inflator that deploys the driver's frontal air bag in the event of an accident may rupture and spray metal fragments onto vehicle occupants. This can increase risk of serious injury or death.
The electric power steering assist may fail, resulting in extra effort needed to steer the vehicle. This could result in loss of vehicle control.
The air bag system that protects occupants in a crash may malfunction, causing unintended air bag deployment, or lack of proper deployment in an accident. This causes a serious safety hazard.
The engine may stall due to the fuel delivery module failing to operate. This can occur due to some wiring being pinched at the fuel tank, cutting off power to the module. Additionally, fuel may leak because the fuel delivery module may be improperly secured to the fuel tank.
The steering shaft may become disengaged from the rest of the steering system, resulting in noise when operating the steering, vibration and feedback felt in the steering wheel or loss of steering control. This could result in an accident.
The tail lights of the vehicle may dim or fail due to a poor electrical connection.
