Mercedes-Benz C240 4MATIC Problems

Clicking Noise From Behind Center of Dash

Heating & Air Conditioning -- Verified

A repetitive clicking noise from behind the center area of the dash panel is usually caused by a broken stepper motor actuating arm. The actuating arm controls the direction of air flow in the climate control system. Disassembly of the center console will be required to access and change the broken arm with the updated, reinforced part.

Transmission May Leak Fluid and Damage Control Module

Drive Train -- Verified

The electrical connector at the automatic transmission may leak fluid into the wiring harness. If not repaired, the oil will migrate through the wiring harness and damage the transmission control module. A new harness and control module may be necessary to correct this problem.

Knocking Noise Over Bumps Due to Worn Sway Bar Link Joints

Suspension & Steering -- Verified

The sway bar end link joints may wear and cause a knocking noise over bumps. Loose or warn links should be replaced to correct this type of noise.

SRS Light Due to Spilled Liquid on Buckle or Under Seat

Electrical & Lights -- Verified

The SRS (airbag) light can come on if liquids are spilled into the seat belt buckles, or if the liquid pools underneath the seat and gets into the electrical connector for the seat belt pretensioner. Damaged components will require replacement to restore proper airbag operation.

Inside Grab Handles/Upholstery/Door Trim Panels May Delaminate

Miscellaneous -- Verified

Inside grab handles, the upholstery on the center console cover, and door trim panels can delaminate. Most commonly replacement of the affected part is necessary.

C240 very smooth sexy car, handle is awesome, nice smooth engine my top mph= 140mph :) i like driving fast, however the breaks wear kinda quickly i have 70k miles and my door pannel motor broke on my passenger side dont really know how, but other than that snow is awesome with 4 matic benz is the best

I feel the build quality is very high. However, if you care more about reliability than handling, comfort and a smooth drive train. Look at a lexus.

Have over 45K miles and have not expeirienced any major problems. I've managed to greatly reduce my maintanance expences (one half) by utilizing a local repair shop that specializes in Mercedes only but does not charge the dealer prices.

WORST Mercedes-Benz ever made! This car has cost me thousands of dollars in repairs and my extended warranty has paid out more than I paid for the car to actually fix items! I have been to the dealership 15 times in 2.5 years in which 4 of those times were for the same problem that has yet to be corrected. I filed multiple complaints with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) so if anyone else has major issues/problems, please file a complaint.

Purchased this for my son used used in 2008. The dealership said this would be a perfect car for him with virtually no problems. What a joke. Since owning this car, we've paid over $3K in repairs. Most recently the back and front sway bar bushings needed replacing. To make matters worse - and to increase the cost of the repair to the customer - Mercedes stopped making the bushings for the front of the car such that the entire sway bar needs replacing. I would never recommend this car to anyone - not even my enemies AND I'll never own another Mercedes.
