Question: Meineke wants $300 to replace vacuum hose? Is this too much?

Question

I took my vehicle to Meineke because the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. Now they are saying there is a problem with the vacuum line, charging me 90 bucks for a diagnostic alone, and then estimating it will be at least $300 to repair one vacuum hose. This seems exorbitant to me! Is this a reasonable and average fee for the service?

Hard to know what they are charging you for, if the vacuum hose is in a place that is hard to access, then it could cost this much, but I would get another opinion. Have them show you exactly where the problem is, then take it somewhere else and see what they say.

The price does seem to be steep to replace one vacuum hose.
