This limited regional recall is for vehicles currently registered or first sold in southern Florida, along the Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Saipan. Upon deployment the passenger airbag inflator could rupture, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the passenger side air bag inflator to correct this concern. Note: this supersedes recall #14V-344.
These vehicles are equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system designed to warn the driver if the pressure in one or more tires becomes to low. In the affected vehicles, if all four tire were to gradually loose pressure at the same rate the tire pressure monitor system (TPMS) may not alert the driver of the drop in pressure. If the vehicle is operated with the tires at the incorrect pressure sudden tire failure could result, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will update the TPMS software to correct this concern.
The electronics for the hybrid system have their own unique cooling needs. The coolant pump for this system can fail resulting in overheating of the hybrid electronics. As a result the powertrian may shut down causing the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump with an improved "brushless" pump to correct this concern.

Upon deployment the driver and/or passenger airbag inflator could rupture, increasing the risk of personal injury. Mazda dealers will replace the affected airbag inflator modules to correct this concern.
Three screws attach each door latch, over time these screws can loosen. If the latch screws loosen excessively the door latch may not engage correctly, the door could open unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk personal injury or an accident. Dealers will add a thread locking compound and re-torque the latch mounting bolts to correct this concern.
Airbags use a chemical reaction contained in an inflator module to create the pressure necessary to inflate the bags when deployment is required. These vehicles are being recalled because the front passenger airbag inflator may produce excessive internal pressure when deployed and as a result, the inflator module could rupture, causing metal fragments to strike vehicle occupants. Dealers will inspect and replace any defective passenger front airbag inflator module found.
Mazda Tribute models equipped with a V6 engine are being recalled because inadequate clearance between the engine cover and the speed control cable connector could result in a stuck throttle when the accelerator pedal is fully or almost fully depressed. This risk exists regardless of whether or not the speed control (cruise control) is used.
A stuck throttle may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop or slow the vehicle, which could result in a crash. Dealers will correct this concern by increasing the engine cover clearance. Remedy parts are expected to be available in mid-August. Until then, dealers will disconnect the speed control cable as an interim remedy if parts are not available at the time of an owner's service appointment. The Mazda recall number is 6812G.
The brake master cylinder reservoir cap can leak brake fluid. Leaking brake fluid can come in contact with the antilock brake system (ABS) module wiring harness. As a result, corrosion can develop in the module electrical connector, which can cause the connector to melt, smoke, or possibly catch fire. Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder reservoir cap and modify the ABS electrical system to correct this concern. The Mazda recall number is 6712A.
The ground terminal of the windshield wiper motor may have been bent during vehicle assembly. Due to the bent terminal, over time, the electrical resistance of the motor circuit may increase to the point that the windshield wipers may stop working. Loss of wiper function in adverse weather could increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will install an additional ground harness on the wiper motor to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin by July 15, 2011. The Mazda recall number is 6411F.
A spider web can cause a restriction in the EVAP canister vent line. This can result in undue stress on the fuel tank during the vapor purge function of the EVAP system. This stress could crack the fuel tank, resulting in a leak. Any fuel leak increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will inspect and clean the vent line and install a spring to keep spiders from entering the line. This recall is expected to begin on March 25, 2011. The Mazda recall number is 6211B.
