The Passenger Front Seat Airbag May Not Function as Designed
If the vehicle is involved in a front end crash, the passenger front seat airbag may not provide the protection it was designed for, increasing the risk of personal injury.
Please contact your Mazxa dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The front passenger seat airbag may be wired incorrectly. In this case, the airbag will not provide adequate protection if the vehicle is involved in a frontal crash. Dealers will install a new wiring harness in the front passenger seat airbag system to correct this concern. This recall began on March 5, 2004. The Mazda recall number is 1604B-B.

AS A RESULT OF AN NCAP TEST, CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES ARE BEING RECALLED FOR IMPROPERLY WIRED FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAGS.
THE AIR BAG WILL NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL CRASH.
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW WIRING HARNESS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE RECALL BEGAN MARCH 5, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MAZDA AT 1-800-222-5500.
