Front Power Seat May Not Adjust

Electrical & Lights, March 16, 2009

RepairPal Expert Overview

Our Quick Take:

Front power sets equipped with position memory function may fail to operate. Improper seat position can make driving difficult, increasing the risk of a crash.

What Should You Do?

For vehicles with memory seats, this would be a high priority recall. The ability for seat adjustment could be lost without warning. Please contact your Mazda dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you as to what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.

Summary:

The wire harness under seats equipped with position memory may be damaged by the front cover bracket. As a result, the ability to adjust the seat may be lost and cause difficulties driving the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect, repair, and secure the harness as necessary. This recall is expected to begin by March 16, 2009. The Mazda recall number is 5309B.
