Mazda 6: 08V412000
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
Vehicles with California emission systems could develop a leak from the fuel tank, increasing the risk of a fire.
What Should You Do?
Consider this a high priority recall. A fuel leak could develop without warning. Please contact your Mazda dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
On vehicles equipped with California emission systems, the protective coating on the exterior of the fuel tank may have been damaged during vehicle assembly, reducing corrosion resistance. Rusting could lead to perforation of the fuel tank, resulting in a fuel leak. Fuel leakage always increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will inspect the fuel tank and repair the coating or replace the tank as necessary. This recall is scheduled to begin on August 28, 2008. The Mazda recall number is 5008H.
