We replaced the Mass Airflow Sensor in 2007, and now (2011) it's failed again, after about 3 1/2 years. Is that normal? We also get the Check Engine light for the knock sensor, but that comes and goes, and comes and goes. I'm assuming we can ignore that for now.

carbon is the biggest reason for failure. also, do you have a kn air filter?? if you do, then that is the reason. it contains oil and it contaminates the sensor. Roy

My mechanic suggested we could try cleaning the sensor instead of replacing it immediately. Does that make sense? Have to ask about the kn air filter. Thanks for answering!

from past experience ( not from owning but working on) Kia is worthles crap , never buy a car thats from a country that makes only 1 vehicle such as Korea , who makes Kia. when Kia first came to the US i know 2 people who had major trans issues within 40k miles ( 1 was bad clutch and one was straight up bad trans. and from observation they are just so cheaply built. people will buy them because they are one of the cheapest new cars out there u also have to think "You get what you pay for"
