How do i change my mass airflow sensor ?

it is located in the tube for the air cleaner, take apart the air cleaner and remove the sensor re install, and re install the air cleaner.

I had the car running, hit it with a rubber mallet lightly, the car ran smoother, then I unplugged it and nothing changed. The car stalls and runs rough.
