MAP Sensor Replacement
The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor tells the powertrain control computer how hard the engine is working (how much load is being applied), which influences both the ignition timing and fuel mixture. The sensor is mounted on the intake manifold, often by the throttle body, or on a separate bracket on the firewall. When replacing the MAP sensor, make sure that all of the vacuum lines are in good shape and that the air filter is clean.
How to Replace the Map Sensor
- Remove the fasteners that secure the MAP sensor
- Remove the old MAP sensor and install the new one
- When applicable, make sure that the vacuum line is secured onto the new MAP sensor
- Clear all PCM codes and perform a Drive Cycle Test Drive to verify the repair
