Is the maintenance light suppose to come on each time a service is due on it like an oild change? I am due for an oil change and I noticed the light came on and stayed the other day.

MasterYes, that is correct. It reminds you for the regular scheduled maintenance - not only for the oil changes. There is a maintenance booklet next to the owners manual, it will shows you the necessary services at different mileages.

They let you do this in case you are an avid synthetic oil user - Obviously not wanting to change the oil every 3000 miles :O)
