Maintenance II
OVERVIEW
*Note - This is a general guide to what is performed on your GM vehicle. Inspections and procedures will vary depending on your specific model
GM recommends the Maintenance II service is performed when :
- The "Change Oil Soon" message comes on within 10 months of the vehicle purchase
- Maintenance I was the last service performed
During Maintenance II the following services are performed:
- Change the engine oil and filter
- Rotate tires and check inflation pressures and wear
- Replace the passenger compartment air filter (Cabin Air Filter)
- Reset oil life system
- Visually inspect the vehicle for leaks or damage
- Inspect engine air cleaner filter – replace as needed
- Perform brake system inspection
- Check engine coolant and windshield washer fluid levels – add fluid as needed
- Inspect the steering and suspension systems
- Inspect the wiper blades
- Inspect restraint system components
- Lubricate body components
- Check and adjust the transmission fluid level as needed
- Inspect the throttle system
- Perform any needed additional services - see below
During the life of your vehicle, other services will need to be performed on your vehicle during the Maintenance I and II services, and these services are based on time and mileage.
25,000 Miles/75,000 Miles/125,000 Miles
- Inspection of the Fuel System for damage or leaks
- Inspection of the Exhaust System for loose or damaged components
50,000 Miles
- Replacement of the Engine Air Filter
- Inspection of the Fuel System for damage or leaks
- Inspection of the Exhaust System for loose or damaged components
- Change the Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter (Severe Service - see below)
100,000 Miles
- Replacement of the Engine Air Filter
- Change the Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter
- Replace Spark Plugs and Inspect Ignition Wires
- Inspection of the Fuel System for damage or leaks
- Inspection of the Exhaust System for loose or damaged components
150,000 Miles
- Replacement of the Engine Air Filter
- Replace Engine Coolant
- Inspection of Accessory Drive Belt - Replace if needed
- Inspection of the Fuel System for damage or leaks
- Inspection of the Exhaust System for loose or damaged components
Severe Service:
GM recommends more frequent changing of the automatic transaxle fluid and filter if the
vehicle is mainly driven under one or more of these conditions:
- In heavy city traffic where the outside temperature regularly reaches 90°F (32°C) or higher
- In hilly or mountainous terrain
- When doing frequent trailer towing
- Uses such as found in taxi, police or delivery service
