I came to this shop for a tune-up and they had good prices. My check engine light was also came on at the same time my tune-up was due so (I don't know) I thought that might be the reason it was on. They charged me to diagnose the light, and then charged me again for a more thorough diagnosis. They changed the EGR valve. When I got home after picking up my car, I noticed that the sticker on my windshield to remind me of my next oil change was way off, as was the sticker under the hood for what ever it was for. Neither was close for any preventive maintenance that would be needed in the future. Seven months later I was having trouble and I figured it was covered under the work they had done previously. I took it back and was charged another diagnostic fee and of course the code was different than the first time. They took the EGR valve off, cleaned it and put it back on. Thirteen months later the light came on again, but there was no way I was taking my car back to this shop even if it were still under warranty. I took it to another shop. Not only was their diagnostic fee less, I was only charged once. They didn't have to run it thru 2 diagnostic tests. They had to replace the EGR valve (again) and I have not had another problem with the check engine light coming on again.
