lost keys and key fob. Car has alarm. Engine will not start on 2007 Kia Spectra

Lost key and key fob to my car. Just replaced the keys. Tried to start engine and nothing happens. Car has power. I think it has something to do with the alarm but am not sure. How do I disengage the alarm? What do I need to do?

If it is an aftermarket alarm, then you can try pulling the fuse. Some vehicles have a microchip in the car that needs to be programmed, it is for theft prevention. Check and see if the key needs to be programmed to the car by calling your Kia Dealer: http://repairpal.com/dealers/kia/indiana/indianapolis

The factory Kia alarm/security system has an immobilizer and alarm. The Immobilizer needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer when replacing key fob.

This happined to my 2002 Mustang GT, they have something called a Passive Anti Theft System (PATS) your keys have a chip in the plastic end, this chip is synchronized to something called a "Transponder Key ring" it is only available through the dealership (if you need a new one) You need to take the keys and the car to a dealorship and have them re-program the keys to the T Key Ring on your car. Then your car will recognize your key and it will not disable the car.
