my geo has been missing sometimes (but not all the time) when i accelerate either from a dead stop or while moving. today it developed a loss of power. today it lost speed on a hill where normally it will pick up speed. on steeper hills it is really bad. on level ground everything acts normally.

I would start by looking at the ignition system, the distributor cap, spark plug wires, and plugs. The ignition coil(in the the distributor ) may be failing, Pull up each spark plug wire (engine off) if oil is present the valve cover needs to come off to replce the spark plug tube seals.

As soon as I hit about 25MPH it kicks in and accelrates fast wear I have to ease off the gas pedal. I think its some sort of shift solenoid or Vehicle Speed Sensor. But I am not a mechanic just so you know.
