Question: Loose oil filter

The oil filter on my Scion xA came loose for no apparent reason. Oil light came on. I stopped in the gas station. The oil was empty. Put oil in. Tightened oil filter. Started the car and filter shot off. I have never seen this before.

    sounds like the incorrect oil filter. it may look the same and screw on but the threads are not correct.
    either that or you have extremely high oil pressure.

    have it checked asap so you do not ruin your motor.

    I've never seen an oil filter shoot off. It could be the wrong filter but what did the threads look like where you screw the filter on? I'm in Pleasant Hill if you need some help...

    sounds like a bad oil pump if the filter is correct. Change the oil filter with a different brand, per. WIX and recheck.
