2002 Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG Question: Locked in park

Hi Folks
the car is locked in park and I can't get it out of park. I am assuming it is solenoid but how hard is to remove and replace? do have a idea of cost. thank you I appreciate the help

    I don't think Autozone's website information will be too helpful but its free. Autozone have some popular workshop manuals for free on line once you register (for free) on their website is a company that independent auto repair shops "buy" their information from that offer a very reasonable service to do it yourselvers. You get a one year subscription to year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... great quality information same as the professionals have ,much better than generic workshop manuals from parts stores, much cheaper than the factory manual. or try and get an online repair manual subscription. Check that the brake lights work, system requires brake light switch input to come out of park.

    this stuck in Park is part of your security system
    my car had done the same
    the dealer fixed it in less then an hour

    Cost of repar is about $960. Not counting towing. The security box under your shifter needs to be replaced. Part will most likely have to come from Germany,
