I cant get my steering wheel lockplate to release

    This is a really old question but I'll answer it for anyone that finds it in the future.

    Go to the auto parts store and get a lock plate compression tool. It will be around $15 but it is worth it. You can press the lock plate down and have a friend pry out the lock ring without this tool but you will need the compression tool to put the lock ring back in.
