Hello, the thermostat in a '98 Lincoln Continental is actually located between the radiator/fan assembly and engine block, towards the front (passenger side) of the engine. Easiest way to find it is to follow the lower radiator hose from the radiator from the driver's side across the engine bay and up to the thermostat housing, or by following the upper radiator hose back to the upper intake crossover pipe, and then follow that hose forward and down to the thermostat housing. Hope that makes sense, it's actually very easy to find and to change (easiest from beneath), and make sure that the housing to block gasket isn't leaking while you're in there.
