On a 2009 Envoy Denali 5.3L V8 the check engine light is on. I read error code P0521 "Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Range/Performance". However, the oil pressure dial gauge in the instrument cluster is working perfectly normal indicating about 40psi at cold idle and goes higher at higher RPMs. How can this be? Does anyone know if the oil pressure dial gauge works independently from the OBDII?

I also read error code P0128 for "Thermostat below Thermostat Regulating Temperature" but I think this is a separate problem. There are no other error codes set.
