Question: lite on with message"Engine oil low appeared once last week and had 77% oil life

index. Yesterday message came on again and showed 76% normal oil life index (oil pressure 36 psi if it is relevant). We have had only 2021 miles added since last oil change which was done April 17. There is no trace of any oil on garage floor. What do you think the problem is and is it usual to have only 76% oil life index?

    you are burning some oil. its acceptable to burn 1/2 quart per 1000 miles

    Thank you for your prompt reply. It alleviates some concern on my part. Years ago, one was told that when a car gets old, it uses more oil --is it true?
