Brakes, December 30, 1998

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Ford has recalled 1999 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles because the retainer clip that secures the master cylinder push rod to the brake pedal arm may be either missing or partially installed. This could cause increased braking effort, and may result in an accident. Dealers will inspect the master cylinder push rod and verify proper clip installation.

Drive Train, July 20, 1998

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Ford has recalled 1997-1998 Expedition, F150, F250, and Lincoln Navigator vehicles because of lug nuts that do not clamp the wheels securely enough to the wheel hubs. These lug nuts can loosen and cause the wheels to separate from the vehicle. Dealers will inspect the wheel studs and replace the lug nuts with a new design.

For Models: Ford Contour, Ford Taurus, Lincoln Continental, Lincoln Navigator, Lincoln Town Car, Mercury Mystique, Mercury Sable

Electrical & Lights, March 23, 1998

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Ford has recalled certain 1997-1998 Taurus and Mercury Sable vehicles and 1998 Contour, Mercury Mystique, Lincoln Navigator, and Town Car models to provide owners with proper instructions on how to aim their headlamps. If there is a need to adjust the headlamps, during headlamp replacement for example, there is a lack of proper documentation on how to properly perform the adjustment. Ford will mail vehicle owners a new owner guide containing revised aiming instructions.

For Models: Ford Expedition, Ford F-150, Ford F-250, Lincoln Navigator

Drive Train, October 20, 1997

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Ford has recalled 1997-1998 Expedition, F150, F250, and Lincoln Navigator vehicles due to a possible shift cable malfunction. On some vehicles, the cable may become detached from the steering column bracket. This may prevent the shifter from engaging the "Park" gear, even though it may still indicate "Park," and the vehicle could roll away. Dealers will secure the shift control cable to the steering column bracket and add a tie strap to the connection.
