The tail lights (and most likely the headlights) are now turning on and off by themselves for a few seconds or minutes, even when the car is parked, with no key in the ignition. Is this the running lights sensor, a battery issue, or something else?

MasterCan you turn the lights off by rotating the light switch stalk on the steering column? It sounds like the light switch is defective, does it feel "limp" as you operate it? The lights can be left in a position where they will come on with the engine running but should switch off when the keys are out of the ignition.
