lighter socket on 1994 Pontiac Grand Am

Due to having so much electrical problems. I'd like to get my GPS plugged into my lighter and working. A repair shop said it will cost me $100.00!!! There must be a cheaper way of replacing this. Need help....

It's probably the going rate, the lighter will be about $15 to $20 and the labor and taxes after that would be $80 you can only try to get quotes from different repair shops or try doing it yourself. Autozone have some popular workshop manuals for free on line once you register (for free) on their website http://bit.ly/autozone_repair_info. and get an online repair manual subscription.
