Question: Life expectancy of rear brake pads

Question

Visitor, 3.5L V6, Dallas, TX, April 17, 2010, 11:08

What is the life expectancy in miles of rear brake pads? We've had our 2008 Honda Accord for two years and 25K miles, now the repair shop is recommending replacement of the rear brake pads? Seems that 25K is not very good life expectancy.

I usually see the rear brake pads wear out on the 08 Accords sooner than 25K. Brake pad wear is determined by pad construction, vehicle weight, driving habits and terrain (hills). The new replacement pads from Honda have a spring that is installed between the pads to help with wear.

I have an 08 Accord and I got a setlement report regarding rear brake pads, that states I could be reimbursed for the purchase of rear brake pads in the amount of $125. The web site is accordsettlement.com Hope that helps.
