Lexus GX470 Problems

Radio Issues May Require Replacement of the Radio

Various radio issues may develop, including: volume control, radio shuts off by itself, or the radio screen is scrambled or blank. Our technicians tell us an improved radio is available to address these concerns.

Check Engine Light With Codes P0440, P0441, P0442, or P0446

The Check Engine Light may illuminate with various EVAP system fault codes stored. Our technicians tell us this may be caused by a sticking EVAP Purge Vacuum Switching valve. An improved valve is now available to remedy this problem.

Clunk Type Noise From Rear of Vehicle When Stopping

A clunk type noise may be noted from the rear of the vehicle just before or just after coming to a stop. Our Technicians tell us a revised rear driveshaft and rear suspension control arms are available to correct this concern.

Lexus GX470 Recalls

Side Curtain Air Bags Deploy Unexpectedly

The side curtain air bags may deploy unexpectedly, resulting in possible occupant injury. Dealers will replace the air bag control module with one that has improved programming free of charge to resolve the concern.

Incorrect Loading and Weight Certification Labels

The vehicle capacity weight on the tire and loading information label and the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) on the certification label is insufficient for certain vehicles. Some vehicles had accessories installed that caused the vehicle to exceed the GVWR value. These labels do not comply with federal safety standards. Dealers will replace the certification, tire and loading label, and correct the owner's manual as necessary to remedy this problem. This recall is expected to begin during October 2009.

The Gross Vehicle Weight Label Is Incorrect

The incorrect gross vehicle weight rating rating (GVRW) date was printed on the certification label; therefore, it does not meet federal regulations. New labels must be special ordered for each vehicle. Once the correct label is received, the original one will be replaced.

We purchased our '07 GX 470 with 26,000 miles on it. It was a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle, and in immaculate condition. We hadn't had any problems with it until recently. Our alternator went out. The vehicle now has 63K miles. Initial estimate we were given to fix it was $1,100, but I challenged that after seeing that the parts are $370 for an OEM alternator. Got them down to $850, installed, w...
I HAVE A 2005 GX 470 WITH A CRACKED DASH
I have just bought a 2007 GX 470 with 93k miles on it. When I'm at a stop sign and let off the brake petal, I hear a metal on metal "clunk". A similar skip is also intermintant as I accelerate. Has anyone had this issue and had it diagnosised accurately? My dealership says it's normal - I say that's B-S !! john.laabs@gmail.com
