Lexus GX470 RecallsSide Curtain Air Bags Deploy Unexpectedly
The side curtain air bags may deploy unexpectedly, resulting in possible occupant injury. Dealers will replace the air bag control module with one that has improved programming free of charge to resolve the concern.
The vehicle capacity weight on the tire and loading information label and the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) on the certification label is insufficient for certain vehicles. Some vehicles had accessories installed that caused the vehicle to exceed the GVWR value. These labels do not comply with federal safety standards. Dealers will replace the certification, tire and loading label, and correct the owner's manual as necessary to remedy this problem. This recall is expected to begin during October 2009.
The incorrect gross vehicle weight rating rating (GVRW) date was printed on the certification label; therefore, it does not meet federal regulations. New labels must be special ordered for each vehicle. Once the correct label is received, the original one will be replaced.
