Incorrect Loading and Weight Certification Labels
Body, Interior & Misc., December 10, 2009
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
2204 vehicles may have an incorrect tire and loading information label. The gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is insufficient for the load carrying capacity of the vehicle.
What Should You Do?
If you have any questions, please contact your Toyota dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The vehicle capacity weight on the tire and loading information label and the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) on the certification label is insufficient for certain vehicles. Some vehicles had accessories installed that caused the vehicle to exceed the GVWR value. These labels do not comply with federal safety standards. Dealers will replace the certification, tire and loading label, and correct the owner's manual as necessary to remedy this problem. This recall is expected to begin during October 2009.
