RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
One or both front seat belts may fail to pull out as a result of a fault in the emergency locking system.
What Should You Do?
Lexus will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning April 21, 2006. If you are experiencing problems with the front seat belts, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It's helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) when you call.
Summary:
The front seat belt retractors may not release due to a failure of the emergency locking system. If the seat belt is locked, the occupant may not be able to properly fasten the seat belt. An unrestrained occupant may have an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash. Dealers will replace the front seat belt assemblies to correct this concern.
