Is it a common problem for the left brake light to go out the bulb and holder work on the right side fine . I had the same problem with my 1995 model. Whats up?

It's a common problem for any brake light to go out if it's an incandescent bulb. If you think it's odd in your case, check for water intrusion in the connector and housing. You didn't say whether the bulb's original or whether it's a recurring problem so I assume it's a normal, minor repair and not a problem.

The bulb is good the holder is good like I said they both work on the right side. Sometimes the left works then the dash will say check brake lights will still driving it will go off and the alarm arrows go of too then on the same trip check light comes on then will go off everthing fine. However the left has been out for sometime now and has not come back on. I checked the bulb again on the right side and all was fine with it. I had the same problem on my 95 740il and notice alot of other 740,s with left brake light out.
