Leaf Spring Replacement
A leaf spring suspension is a common type of rear suspension on many pickup trucks, minivans, and SUVs. The springs support the weight of the vehicle and determine the height at which it sits on the road. There are two rear leaf springs, one on either side of the vehicle.
A suspension leaf spring may be damaged by carrying more weight than the vehicle is designed for.
To replace the leaf spring, the weight of the vehicle is supported, and the front and rear mounting hardware, bushings, and brackets attached to the leaf spring are removed. The spring is detached and removed from the rear axle and replaced with a new spring.
