I begin my journey with David LeMeilleur by introducing myself and explaining that the work I required wasn't urgent but I did have a trip planned in about a month. Never crossed my mind that he was or would become so busy that almost nothing that I wanted done was completed. I received a call requesting an extension of shop hours of 4 hour to track down a problem that seemed to have them buffaloed. No problem I authorized the extra time thinking that they were on the job. Out of no fault of theirs they had some difficulty with my service plan which caused us both so grief with regard to this expedience. However, the month had come and gone and I had to endure the expense of not having my motorhome and paying for a four day stay in a hotel room and meals at restaurants rather than cooking in my coach. When I received the bill I noticed that there was a charge of 6 hours
for what I had approved 4 for. David said that he didn't feel right charging the 11 hours he actually had in that particular part of the job. What was more surprising was that he informed me that the $870.00 spent in the pursuit of finding the problem was all for naught and they were unable to effect a repair solution. I understand that working on these RV's from time to time you just run into difficult situations although if you garner a fee of $145.00 for your labor rate you might imagine that expectations for results are high.
Also, with regards to diagnostic time. In my opinion it was excessive 3 hours or $435.00 to determine that the backup camera's monitor needed to be replaced. I found the monitor on Amazon for $300.00 1.5 hours to remove and replace and $10.00 and I would have a working backup camera.
Lastly, I want to say that it is easy to Monday morning quarterback these things and I have been guilty myself
of getting off in the weeds, down a rabbit hole before I realized that I gone way out of my way made some decisions that were more time consuming and more expensive than if I had looked at the solutions in total before
chasing what seemed the obvious path.
David and his team appear to be hard working, honest, and quite knowledgeable and I feel certain that some of our problems were more circumstantial than intentional. I wish him and team the best but I am not a repeat customer.
