Landers Ford Lincoln Collierville
I have been having my vehicles serviced at Landers ever since I moved to Collierville 11 years ago. I have always found the staff to be truthful and honest when making recommendations for needed service to my vehicles. The service is quick and convenient. I always recommend Landers as a place to have our vehicles serviced. They also service other Makes and Models.

I took my truck in to be diagnosed for a ticking sound in the engine that had become progressively worse. Landers charged me a diagnostic fee and told me nothing was wrong with it...might be a sticking lifter...told me not to worry about it.
A week later a spark plug BLEW OUT of my cylinder head. Yes...it blew straight out. I towed it to Landers and they told me it'll be $5,000 for a new engine to be installed.
I ask if they can use a "time-sert" insert to fix it and the mechanic says it can't be done. I tell him it can be done and that I'm looking at the official Ford Technical Service Bulletin that describes the procedure as we speak. He asked ME to fax HIM the Ford TSB.
I do so. They read it and tell me they won't do the official Ford authorized fix. They would rather get $5,000 from me.
I tell them no thanks, and find a shop here in town that fixed it for under $400.
I get the plug fixed and the ticking is GONE. It was the plug coming loose the whole time but the Landers guys either didn't catch it, or let it go so they could get a much bigger chunk of money out of me when it blew out of the head.
I called the service manager and asked him to at the very least pay for the $400 it cost me to fix my vehicle since his mechanics dropped the ball and misdiagnosed the problem. His response? "I'm not interested in paying to fix your vehicle".
They failed to find the problem with the vehicle, charged me a fee for not finding it, then when the problem blew up they refused to do the less expensive repair that is Ford authorized so they could try to get $5,000 out of me. They are either incompetent or they are crooks...I'm not sure which...and it might be a little of both.
This wasn't the first problem I've had with them but it will surely be the last.
On a closing note...they tried to downplay the effectiveness of the Time-Sert insert to fix the blown plug saying it might be OK if you're just going to sell the vehicle immediately...I've got over 20k miles on that insert since the repair.
Steer clear of Landers Ford service department. They do poor work and don't stand behind it when they screw it up. You've been warned.
