The tire pressure monitoring system may fail, causing warning lights to illuminate due to not detecting the wheel sensors properly. Dealers will update the body control module software free of charge to resolve the concern.
Land Rover Recalls
The occupant classification system may fail, causing unintended deactivation of the passenger air bag. Dealers will update the restraint control module (RCM) software free of charge to resolve the concern.
The front turn signals do not indicate any malfunction to the driver if they are not working properly. Dealers will update the vehicle software for this system free of charge to resolve the concern.
An electrical connector for the driver and/or passenger side seat airbag may become disconnected due to insufficient clearance for the wire harness within the seat. If this were to occur the affected side airbag would not function as expected in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will modify the area around the problem connector to prevent it from becoming accidentally disconnected free of charge to resolve the concern.
The brake calipers hold the brake pads in place and use hydraulic pressure to press the pads against the rotors when the brakes are applied. The bolts that hold the rear calipers in place may not have been sufficiently tightened during vehicle assembly. If the mounting bolts were to come loose, the caliper could detach from the vehicle resulting in loss of braking ability. The loose caliper could also strike the wheel, causing sudden deflation of a tire. Either of these situations may increase the risk of a crash. Land Rover dealers will inspect and tighten the rear brake caliper mounting bolts to correct this concern.
Thirty-six vehicles are being recalled because during the manufacturing process, the windshield on these vehicles may have been installed incorrectly. In the event of a crash, the windshield may come loose from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury to the vehicle's occupants. Dealers will replace the windshield on these vehicles to correct this concern. The Land Rover recall number is P028.
Vehicles that had drive shaft couplers replaced may have had defective parts installed, which can result in drive shaft vibration and separation. Dealers will replace the affected rear drive shaft couplers free of charge to resolve the concern.
Landrover is recalling 2010–2011 LR2 models due to a shorting bar in the clockspring that may become disconnected when the driver's air bag module connector is installed. This may cause the driver's front air bag not to deploy as intended, increasing the risk of injury. Landrover will install a spacer in the electrical connector at fault to correct this issue.
The air bag warning light may illuminate and the passenger front air bag may not deploy as expected. Failure of the front air bag to deploy in the event of a crash increases the risk of injury. Dealers will update the software in the air bag control module to correct this issue. This recall is scheduled to begin by December 21, 2009. The Land Rover recall number is P020.
The front differential coupling sleeve and the propeller shaft may be misaligned, resulting in spline wear over time. As this wear progresses, abnormal noise and/or vibration may develop. Continued vehicle operation can eventually result in the splines shearing and loss of drive force to the wheels, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will install a revised design of the propeller shaft, flange kit, and heat shield kit to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin on January 6, 2009 The Land Rover recall number is P041.
