Question: Knocking Noise in Suspension??
Question
I have been having this issue for almost 1 year...there seems to be a knocking noise when I turn to left or right and also over road bumps and curves...I replaced the front struts and mounts/bushings...stablizer links...lower control arm bushings, one front control arm bushing and sway bar bushings....and the noise is still there...VW did not charge me for half the work because they could not find the issue...new rear brakes were installed...and my tires are merely a year old and still have good threads...two wheel alignments were performed in the past 6 months...also a new front left brake spindal was replaced by VW...with all this work I am still having the same issue..a lot of these parts were redone by VW in the past 6 months...no one can seem to locate the issue....might anyone be able suggest a resolution?

Rookieno, not yet...I have a few questions when I call VW tomorrow and my mechanic...I am terribly worried it may be something in the drive shaft too...not sure...this noise will not go away...it has been almost 7 months that VW is trying to find out the cause of the issue...I cannot believe that VW can't even pin-point this issue...worries me...do you have any other thoughts on this issue by chance?..I would greatly appreciate the kind gesture...and tk u for your earlier response...

MasterHow many miles does this Jetta have as a 2002 probably could use a CV Shaft inspection like Valleyautotech suggests and Napa has new ones http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?A=NMD942011_... and the labor isn't that high 2.4 hours for both

RookieMy 2002 Jetta has approx. 79000 miles...I take good care of the car...it drives like new...most mechanics are impressed with the vehicle...VW will be performing an electronical test on Wednesday May 19....for free...they are borrowing a gadget from Mercedes something like an electronical stethascope..I am hopeful they will be able to determine the knocking noise...it mostly happens when I turn right and sometimes left...the struts and mounts are new as well as all the control arm bushings and sway bar bushings...will see what they find...my other mechanic wants to change the CV's...if VW does not find any issues I will let my mechanic perform the CV replacements...the axle I assume...tku...any other sauggestions please let me know asap...tks!!!

Techniciancheck all of the lower frame bolts with a pull bar not visually may seem tight but may be stripped looks can be deceiving also check steering rack for broken mount straps or loose bushings useing 10 to 12 inch pry bar be sure not flexing enough to bump on frame or body.
