a knock sensor is in the block and it tells the ecm if there is a knock .I would have the oil pressure checked if oil pressure is ok then you could have rod bearing gone

MARY, A KNOCK SENSOR SENSES KNOCKS...TO PUT IT MORE TECHNICALLY...THE ENGINE RUNS BETTER AT MORE ADVANCED TIMING UNTIL A CERTAIN POINT...THAT POINT WILL CAUSE ENGINE KNOCK...THE KNOCK SENSOR DETECTS THIS KNOCKING AND RETARDS THE ENGINE TIMING TO ELIMINATE THE KNOCK.....UNFORTUNATELY IN YOUR CASE, THE ENGINE IS KNOCKING DUE TO RUNNING IT WITH LOW OR NO OIL PRESSURE...THIS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE NOW THAT YOU HEAR KNOCKING CONSTANTLY...DISABLED OR NOT, YOU NEEDED TO FIX THAT OIL PRESSURE PROBLEM BEFORE...NOT AFTER NEGLECTING YOUR ENGINE AND THUS...DESTROYING IT IN THE PROCESS...
